Madeline Beasley was born in England where she specialised in the study of graphic design. She moved to New Zealand in 1968, worked in advertising and television and in 1990 began exhibiting her paintings.

Her works deal essentially with the representation of guardian angels and saints. Secular angels are often portrayed with fruit, flowers or books to create nurturing or scholarly characters.

Madeline says of her work,”I am inspired by the idea of people having their own spiritual icon, an entity that watches over their wellbeing. I see them as protecting and empowering images.”
